2020 is more than just a new year, it is the start of a new decade. And with it, comes new adventures. We aren’t making New Years Resolutions; we are choosing a word for the year: intentional [done with intention or on purpose]. This is more of a personal post.
For us the 2010s were “the best of times, it was the worst of times… it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.” Charles Dickens wrote those words 161 years ago, but those phrases are some of the best said of all time. He was intentional. And we want to be more so.
In all honesty, we were dealing with a lot of shit over the past decade. And while most of it wrapped up before 2020, a lot also didn’t. One of our biggest blessings was finding each other in the beginning of the decade and getting married towards the end. We were best friends. He was the Harry to my Hermione. She was the Hobbes to his Calvin. And then we became a couple. He became the Seth to her Summer. And she became the Monica to his Chandler. Between the winters of despairs, we celebrated our springs of hopes.
And the start of the new decade brings new adventures for us. We are moving to Germany!
By the end of the first quarter, we will be in Germany creating a different life for ourselves. Leaving family and friends behind is overwhelming. Moving away from a country as beautiful as South Africa is heart-breaking. And after a huge deliberation, we know that this move is the best for us to do. We are stronger together and will make the best of everything we face.
We want to be more intentional in all the new choices that come our way and start the decade off as well as possible. We want to live life on purpose this year. From finding a new home to a weekend for just us two each month to making better health choices regarding food and exercise to blogging better and blogging more.
Thank you for sharing in our news and we are excited to have you along with our new adventures. We are grateful for you! We wish you a year filled with love, laughter, strength, and grace. Here’s to an intentional 2020.
