The Three Sanctuary Pass: Jukani Wildlife, Monkeyland and Birds of Eden is the best way to learn about wild animals in an environment that protects them. The three sanctuaries in The Crags area form the South African Animal Sanctuary Alliance (SAASA). They are award-winning sanctuaries (winning ‘Best Animal Welfare Initiative’) and should definitely be visited at least once in your life. The sanctuaries promote Responsible Tourism.

Thunzi Bush Lodge stay and picnic

A day visit to Addo Elephant National Park
One of the things we love about living in the Eastern Cape (also locally known as ‘the adventure province’) are the numerous game parks scattered through the province. We posted about our day trip to Kragga Kamma Game Park – a beautiful game park just outside Port Elizabeth. This post will take you to the Addo area, which is home to the Addo Elephant National Park. The Park is one of the largest South African National Parks (SANParks), covers five different biomes and hosts the Big 7 – lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino, elephant, southern right whale and the great white shark (we saw your Big 5 Kruger and raised you by two 😉 ). The Park includes a Marine Protected Area. Addo sees hundreds of thousands of tourists annually.
Umlambo River Lodge
When it comes to gifts for birthdays, weddings and other special occasions, more and more of our friends look for experiences over material things. We are no different. We are blessed with incredible friends who gifted us with a nights stay at Umlambo River Lodge. It was a tranquil stay along the Sundays River that allowed a respite from city life and a chance to reconnect with ourselves and each other.
The Greater Addo area is one of the less ‘discovered’ areas of the Eastern Cape. There is a lot on offer (both in activities and panoramas) and there are hidden gems scattered across the region. In our opinion, Umlambo River Lodge is definitely one of the gems of the area.
