Treehouse Cottage in The Crags. The Timeless Voyagers

Treehouse Cottage in The Crags

In this post, we will take you on an adventure to the Treehouse Cottage in The Crags (Western Cape). We booked the treehouse via and were not disappointed. The hosts were friendly and willing to assist wherever possible. The middle of the year is an expensive time for us because we celebrate our birthdays in June and our wedding anniversary in August. The treehouse was the perfect weekend getaway for our anniversary.

Treehouse cottage

The treehouse was a large open planned room with a kitchenette, lounge and dining area, and a bed. The bed was wonderfully comfortable and delightfully warm with the electric blanket (winning!). The kitchenette was simple but it had everything that we needed for our stay. The bathroom was a good size as well. There was a balcony with a table and chairs and a Weber braai. The balcony provides views of trees and fields.

Emily Moon

We decided to head into Plettenberg Bay for our Friday night. We went to Emily Moon for live music, pizza and drinks. The place is stunning and we hope to stay over sometime in the future. The night was a perfect combination of good food, good music and a good vibe. The candlelit dinner was an absolute treat (even if it was icy outside) and we are sure to be back. Returning to the warmed up bed was the perfect end to an amazing night.

Bramon Wines

To celebrate our anniversary we enjoyed lunch at Bramon Wine Estate. There are tables inside the restaurant, on the patio and along the vineyards. We had booked a table during the week before our visit and had a table next to the vineyards. Unfortunately, with it being winter the vineyards were dry and bare but there was some green regrowth happening. It was a chilly day but every now and then we were warmed by the sun rays reaching us through the clouds.

The food selection is tapas style. For our lunch, we chose a small loaf of homemade bread, a Greek salad, two types of cheese (Plaaskaas or ‘farm cheese’ and baked brie and cranberry), olive tapenade, hummus and crispy sesame calamari. It was a lot of food! And so good! The baked brie in cranberry was beyond divine and we have been dreaming of it since eating it. To drink we had their Sauvignon Blanc – light and smooth and went down like a treat.

After our wine adventures, we headed back to the cottage and settled in. The rain came down and the sound of the rain on the wood was glorious. We put our electric blanket on and boiled the kettle for a cup of tea. When … BLACK! Loadshedding. Our bed hadn’t warmed up and the kettle was half boiled – thanks Eskom! It was 20:00 (and the electricity only came back at 8:30 the following morning). We spent the rest of the night playing cards by candlelight and drinking more wine. It was a great end to our anniversary.
